5 Tips To Keep Your Hair Color Looking Good

1. Do not wash your hair right away

For the first 24 hours after a hair color has been applied, the color settles in to the hair. Even when the hairdresser washes your hair, the color continues to operate for the following several hours. If you wash your hair at home, the color won't have a chance to settle in properly.

2. Use products designed for colored hair

If you want your hair color to last long, you must use hair care products designed for colored hair. Other products may strip your hair color, therefore this is vital. SLS, alcohols, and other chemicals may shorten the life of your hair color and dry out your hair, so avoid using them on colored hair.

3. Do not wash your hair with hot water

Your hair will seem dull if you wash it in hot water. The lower the temperature of the water you use for your hair wash, and the fewer times you wash your hair each week, the better your hair will look and feel. Dry shampoo may be used between washes to protect your hair from becoming greasy.

4. Invest in hair masks and other conditioning treatments

Colour treated hair is more delicate and requires extra care. Don't forget to give moisture to your coloured locks with conditioning treatments like rich hair masks and oils.

5. Avoid excessive heat styling of your hair

Since hair color can already be drying, just imagine for a moment what adding heat can do to your hair. Avoid overusing your blow dryer or flat iron. If you're going to use a dryer, don't set it to its maximum temperature setting. As a physical barrier between your hair and the hot styling tool, a heat protectant spray or serum may assist to protect your hair from being damaged.
